Why the DJ Precision Stage 1 6.7L Cummins Head is 2026’s Top Seller
If you have a 2007–2018 6.7L Cummins, you love your truck. But did you know about the factory cylinder head's dirty little secrets? Unfortunately, it's known for restrictive airflow and the looming nightmare of a dropped valve seat. Don’t worry, at D&J we created a solution.
When we engineered our 2007-2018 6.7 Stage 1 24v Cummins Performance Head, our goal wasn’t just to build a replacement part. We wanted to engineer a permanent fix for factory flaws while unlocking massive performance potential.
The diesel community has officially noticed. We are proud to announce that the Stage 1 Head is our #1 selling cylinder head of 2026.
Here is a look at exactly why 6.7L owners are choosing this head over others on the market.
The Problem with the Factory 6.7L Head
From the factory, the 6.7L Cummins head is starved for air, flowing at a restrictive 155 CFM. To make it worse, the factory valve seats are notorious for dropping under high thermal stress, a failure that can instantly destroy an entire engine.
Traditionally, getting more air meant cutting off the factory intake plenum shelf and dealing with additional fabrication and extra expenses for an aftermarket intake. We took a different approach. We designed a head that gives you maximum airflow while keeping a 100% bolt-on, easy installation.
The Power of 5-Axis CNC Porting
The magic of the Stage 1 head lies in our precision machining. By retaining the factory intake plenum shelf but utilizing our advanced 5-axis CNC port job, we smooth out and reshape the internal ports to overcome factory restrictions.
What does a 41% airflow increase actually mean?
- Significantly Lower EGTs: More air means more efficient combustion, dropping your Exhaust Gas Temperatures by up to 180°F under load.
- Reduced Boost Pressure: Because the engine breathes easier, parasitic backpressure drops, allowing your turbo to operate in its efficiency sweet spot.
- Crisp Throttle Response: You’ll notice faster spool-up and vastly improved low-end power, whether you’re passing on the highway or pulling a heavy trailer.
Our Stage 1 Head Build Process
We don't cut corners. Every single Stage 1 head that leaves our facility undergoes a rigorous, quality inspection process.
- Thermal Cleaning & Inspection: The casting is stripped of all soft plugs, thoroughly cleaned, blasted, and structurally crack-checked.
- Upgraded Valve Guides & Seats: We press in all new bronze valve guides and our proprietary extra-large, heavy-duty valve seats to completely eliminate the risk of a dropped seat.
- Precision Machining: The head receives our signature 5-axis CNC porting, a high-performance valve job, and a precision deck resurface to ensure a flawless head gasket seal.
- Heavy-Duty Assembly: We build it up with 105-pound heavy-duty valve springs, new valve seals, and secure thread-in soft plugs.
-
Pressure Testing: Before boxing, every single valve and coolant passage is pressure checked to guarantee it is perfect before it ever arrives to you.
What Real Truck Owners Are Saying
Don't just take our word for it. Here is what Bradley W. had to say after putting the Stage 1 head to the test:
"This 6.7 head is impressive. The port job looks beautiful, & all of the other machine work does as well. Everything is spot on. Truck has about 2,500 miles on it now and the EGTs are about 180 degrees cooler. I would definitely recommend getting this head if you’re in need of one."
